PANews reported on April 8 that according to Cryptoslate, well-known crypto lawyer James Murphy (@MetaLawMan) has filed a lawsuit against the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) based on the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA). The legal action filed on April 7 aims to reveal information that the U.S. government may have about the identity of the mysterious founder of Bitcoin, Satoshi Nakamoto.

Murphy said the lawsuit was caused by a speech at a financial intelligence conference in 2019. At the meeting, a DHS official claimed that he had identified Satoshi Nakamoto and interviewed him in California, where three other Bitcoin developers were present. Murphy now wants to obtain relevant internal documents, emails and notes from the DHS to verify whether the interview was true. He believes that if the interview really took place, there must be a written record, and this lawsuit is intended to make these records public. At the same time, Murphy called on Homeland Security Secretary Christy Noem to voluntarily disclose information. If the DHS refuses, he said he will insist on the lawsuit until the truth comes out.
