PANews reported on October 22nd that according to an OpenAI announcement, ChatGPT will no longer be available on WhatsApp starting January 15, 2026, due to adjustments to WhatsApp's policies and terms. OpenAI stated that users can continue conversations on the iOS, Android, Web, and Mac versions of ChatGPT Atlas, and gain access to features such as voice, in-depth research, and file uploads. Users can link their phone number to their ChatGPT account through the URL of the "1-800-ChatGPT" contact in WhatsApp, and historical chats will be synced to ChatGPT. After this expiration date, WhatsApp conversations will no longer be automatically transferred, and WhatsApp does not support chat exports. OpenAI recommends completing the link as soon as possible and provides guidance in the Help Center.
ChatGPT will stop providing services on WhatsApp on January 15, 2026. Users can migrate to the ChatGPT app.
