PANews reported on May 7 that according to Cryptobriefing, Michael Saylor, chairman of the board of directors of Strategy (formerly MicroStrategy), called on Microsoft to adjust its capital allocation strategy at the "Strategy World 2025" summit. He proposed that Microsoft should stop investing in low-yield bonds and stock buybacks and instead use Bitcoin as a core option for corporate asset allocation. Data shows that Bitcoin's annualized return rate has reached 53% in the past five years, with a cumulative increase of more than 950%. During the same period, Microsoft's stock annualized return rate was 6%, with a cumulative increase of about 148%. Saylor criticized Microsoft for using cash flow for inefficient capital operations, pointing out that if the $200 billion returned to shareholders in the past five years was invested in Bitcoin, the company's value might increase by $5 trillion. He emphasized that Bitcoin is a highly liquid and fungible capital asset that can serve as a modern alternative to bonds.
Earlier in December 2024, Michael Saylor suggested that Microsoft adopt Bitcoin as a core corporate strategy , and then Microsoft shareholders voted against the Bitcoin investment proposal .
