PANews reported on May 13 that according to Cointelegraph, British High Court Judge Edward Mellor issued a comprehensive injunction against Craig Wright, a computer scientist who calls himself "Satoshi Nakamoto", prohibiting him from continuing to file defamation lawsuits. In his ruling on May 12, Judge Mellor pointed out that Wright's repeated false statements and aggressive lawsuits have brought legal "difficulties" to individuals and developers in the Bitcoin community, and he has also tried to "weaponize the legal system" to intimidate critics. His lawsuits are often based on fabricated evidence, forcing others to spend a lot of time and money on legal defense.
Previously, in 2021, the Crypto Open Patent Alliance (COPA) sued Wright for long-term false claims of Bitcoin's identity. In March last year, a British court ruled that he had nothing to do with the creation of Bitcoin, and in December he was given a one-year suspended sentence for contempt of court. This injunction marks the end of this nearly decade-long legal farce. Wright has also filed a defamation lawsuit against Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin and others.
