PANews reported on May 20 that according to Bloomberg, the Argentine government disbanded the Special Team for Cryptocurrency Investigation (UTI) established three months ago through a presidential decree. The team was originally responsible for investigating the case of President Mile and his sister Karina suspected of manipulating the price of Libra tokens. President Mile and the Minister of Justice jointly signed the decision, saying that UTI "has completed its established functions."

In February this year, after Milley publicly promoted the Libra token on social media, causing its price to fluctuate violently, some wallets controlling a large number of tokens were sold, causing significant losses to retail investors. The opposition accused senior government officials of possible market manipulation. Congress established a 28-member special investigation committee in April, but neither the Minister of Justice nor the Minister of Economy attended the hearing on May 14. The investigation showed that Milley had held a private dinner with business people for $20,000 during the 2023 campaign, and the relevant cash income was not included in the campaign finance report. The Libra incident continues to raise questions about the president's public and private interests. With the dissolution of UTI, the government's internal investigation has officially ended, and the case will be handled by the Congressional Committee in the future.
