Sentient's Asia Tour: Bringing Open Source General AI to China, Japan, and South Korea

Sentient Labs, a pioneer in artificial general intelligence (AGI), today announced the official expansion of its presence in East Asia with the launch of an ambitious campus tour series and corporate partnership program. The company, dedicated to driving and democratizing innovation in AGI technology, previously secured $85 million in seed funding from leading global investors, including Peter Thiel's Founders Fund and Pantera Capital.

As the adoption of AGI technology accelerates, most mainstream AI tools remain closed-source systems, with unclear value propositions and unclear boundaries. Sentient Labs sees China and East Asia as key drivers of the democratization of open-source AGI technology. China is continuously strengthening its open AI ecosystem, with open-source models like DeepSeek and Alibaba's Ling-1T continuously iterating to empower entrepreneurs, researchers, and students to seamlessly participate in AI innovation.

Sandeep Nailwal, co-founder of Sentient Labs, outlined the company's vision: to broaden the path forward for open-source AGI. He specifically noted, "We view the younger generation in China and East Asia as a key force in building AGI. Their early participation will directly shape the future of open AGI."

From October 24 to 31, 2025, TinTinLand will join hands with Sentient Labs to co-host the "Sentient East Asia Tour" in Shanghai, Beijing, Tokyo and Seoul.

Highlights of the event include Professor Fang Zhixuan of Tsinghua University, Yang Zhuolin, a researcher at the Nvidia Institute for Applied Deep Learning, and Wooming Song and Jaehyun Nam, PhD students in AI at KAIST. They will engage in in-depth discussions on open source AI with team members including Edoardo Contente, a researcher at Sentient Labs, and Professors Sewoong Oh and Sheng Peiyao from the University of Washington.

Developers, students, researchers, and investors will gather to discuss Sentient's technical architecture and vision, including localizing AGI tools for Chinese, Japanese, and Korean communities. Previous events at universities like Fudan University and Shenzhen University have attracted over 1,500 participants, with co-founder Nailwal personally engaging with young tech talent.
