RNS.ID announces crackdown on counterfeit Palauan IDs and initiates secondary review and blocking

PANews reported on October 24th that RNS.ID, the digital ID project for the Republic of Palau, announced that counterfeit Palau IDs have recently been used to bypass platform know-your-customer (KYC) procedures. The initiative will integrate with global fraud blacklists and implement secondary verification. These measures include providing an official API to KYC vendors and partner platforms to verify document numbers, issue dates, photos, and dates of birth. Those who fail secondary verification will be marked as fraudulent and synchronized with the database. Those found to be forgers or impersonators will be permanently banned, and their names, birthdays, and profile photos will be added to a global fraud database for automated identification by various institutions. Evidence will also be collected and transferred to jurisdictions such as China for criminal prosecution of those responsible for forging state documents and engaging in fraud.
