Discord user data leaked due to a cyberattack on its third-party customer service
The social media platform Discord announced on the 3rd of this month that its third-party customer service provider had been hacked, and some customers' information had been stolen and used to blackmail Discord.
This cybersecurity incident affected some Discord users who had contacted Customer Support or the Trust & Safety team. The incident exposed chat logs, real names, usernames, email addresses, IP addresses, transaction history, payment information, the last four digits of credit card numbers, and a small number of photos used for proof of age. Discord immediately revoked the third party's access to the Discord ticketing system upon discovery. Initial analysis indicates the unauthorized party responsible for the attack did not have direct access to Discord.

Vitalik's new article: The traditional view that "memory access is O(1)" is not accurate
Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin published a new article titled "Memory Access is O(N^(1/3))." The article argues that the common assumption that arithmetic operations (addition, multiplication, division, etc.) on fixed-size numbers take one unit of time, and that memory access also takes one unit of time, is inaccurate. Both in theory and practice, memory access takes O(N^⅓) time: if your memory is eight times larger, then reading and writing it will take twice as long. Vitalik noted the practical implications of this principle in cryptography and algorithm optimization, and called for future computing models to more realistically reflect memory hierarchies and physical limitations.
