PANews reported on April 29 that according to Cointelegraph, Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren called on government officials to address issues related to US President Trump's Meme coin and his media company. Warren and Adam Schiff jointly wrote a letter to the Office of Government Ethics, requesting an investigation into the moral risks that Trump's Meme coin TRUMP may cause. The letter pointed out that Trump had previously promised to provide supporters who hold the most TRUMP tokens with White House dinners and tours, which may be suspected of violating the Federal Anti-Bribery Act and the emoluments clause in the Constitution.
The letter specifically emphasized that the token could become a new channel for foreign powers to anonymously purchase political influence. On the same day, Warren also wrote to the chairman of the SEC, asking to ensure that the supervision of Trump Media Company is free from political interference. Although Warren serves as a senior member of the Senate Banking Committee, the Democratic Party is currently in the minority in Congress.
