According to Cointelegraph, Jake Gallen, CEO of digital asset trading platform Emblem Vault, suffered a hacker attack after a suspicious Zoom video conference and lost more than $100,000 in Bitcoin and Ethereum assets. The attacker pretended to be a YouTube blogger with more than 90,000 subscribers and used Zoom's default remote access function to install malware called "GOOPDATE" on Gallen's computer during the video interview. Cybersecurity company SEAL said that the hacker group, called "ELUSIVE COMET", usually operates as Aureon Capital venture capital company and has caused millions of dollars in financial losses. SEAL security researchers recommend that practitioners in the encryption industry should turn off Zoom's remote access function in time to prevent similar attacks.
