The 16th "Substrate Blockchain Development Introduction" course officially opened on November 22, 2024, and successfully concluded on January 23, 2025, with an actual number of 150 people registered. This course is jointly taught by experienced lecturers Wang Dachui and Zhou Jun , and four senior teaching assistants Zhu Zhixin, Zou Hangbiao, Liu Zhengyuan, and Xie Jun provide full guidance to help students consolidate their technical foundation. Class monitor Emma is responsible for assisting course management and learning exchanges, helping students to deeply understand blockchain technology, and apply Substrate development skills to actual projects, comprehensively improving practical skills and technical proficiency.

As an introductory course for Substrate, we have carefully designed a scientific and reasonable learning path, combining the students' development foundation and knowledge needs to help developers start their Substrate development journey more smoothly and lay a solid foundation for the birth of future Web3 potential projects.
The course includes 6 recorded classes, 5 practical tasks, 5 office hours and workshop activities . Online live interaction allows students to communicate closely with instructors and improve learning efficiency; at the same time, multiple teaching assistants provide full support to ensure that students can solve various development problems in a timely manner during the learning process.

The students are generally young
From the age distribution chart of the college, the post-90s account for the highest proportion, reaching 42% , and are the main group; the post-00s follow closely , accounting for 37% , showing a trend of younger people. Overall, the post-90s and post-00s account for nearly 80% , indicating that the students are generally young, representing the rise of emerging forces.
Male developers account for a higher proportion, while female developers actively participate
Among the participants, the majority of developers are male, with a total of 130 people, accounting for 87% ; there are 20 women, accounting for 13% . In this course, we saw more female developers, and more and more female developers are devoting themselves to the blockchain industry , showing their talents and promoting the development of the industry.
The overall education level of the students is high
From the distribution of students' education, we can see that the bachelor's degree accounts for the highest proportion, reaching 64% , becoming the mainstream group; the master's degree is second, accounting for 20% , showing a strong high education background; the junior college accounts for 15% , which is relatively small, and the doctoral degree accounts for only 1% , which is a minority. Overall, the bachelor's degree and above account for 85% , reflecting the overall high education level of the students.
Students are concentrated in first-tier cities
From the perspective of the geographical distribution of students, most of them come from Guangdong, Beijing, Hubei, and Shanghai , and the rest come from 23 different cities and regions. This is due to the advantage of online teaching in breaking through geographical restrictions, and it also highlights the forward-looking and activeness of first-tier cities and overseas regions in the field of Web3 .
Students’ technology stack is more modern
From the data of " Mastering Development Language ", Python ranks first with 19% , showing its wide application and popularity. Solidity (17%) and Go (12%) have a high share, reflecting the activeness and growth trend of blockchain development. Overall, the technology stack of the participating students is relatively modern, with Web, blockchain and high-performance computing being more prominent .
Most students spend 1-2 hours studying every day
According to student feedback, the vast majority of students can arrange 1-2 hours a day for study, accounting for about 43% of the total. In addition, 26% of students study less than 1 hour a day. 19% of students spend 2-3 hours. Although time is limited , most students can take out at least 1 hour in their daily lives to study .
Cultivate new forces and improve the excellent graduation rate
With the successful conclusion of the 16th Substrate Introductory Course, we would like to congratulate all the students who have successfully overcome the challenges through their own efforts and persistence. If you complete all course video learning and submit 5 tasks by 24:00 on January 10, 2025, you will be awarded a graduation certificate . In addition, if you submit 5 tasks on time by 24:00 on January 3, 2025, and the total score reaches 45 points (total score 50 points), you will be rated as an outstanding student and will receive an additional paper version of the Outstanding Student Certificate, Polkadot peripheral gifts, and 2-4 internal referral opportunities.
