PANews reported on May 15 that according to Cryptoslate, Polygon co-founder Sandeep Nailwal recently disclosed that scammers used AI technology to forge his image video and defraud startups in the crypto industry. The scammers first hacked into the Telegram account of Shreyansh Singh, head of Polygon Ventures, and then contacted startups in the ecosystem to induce victims to participate in Zoom meetings on the grounds of investment negotiations. In the meeting, the scammers used AI-generated images of Nailwal, Singh and fictitious team members (without audio interaction) to trick participants into installing malware development kits. Nailwal said that many entrepreneurs have asked him to verify the authenticity of the meeting. Nailwal advised community members not to install unfamiliar software in unsolicited interactions. He also emphasized the importance of operating specifications and called on crypto users to separate wallet signing activities from daily device use. He said: "These attacks are becoming more and more sophisticated, so the best practice is to use a separate laptop specifically for signing operations through the wallet, and never use this computer for anything else unrelated to the wallet."
