PANews reported on May 15 that according to Coinbase’s official disclosure, hackers stole some personal information of less than 1% of active users by bribing overseas customer service staff, but no passwords, private keys or funds were involved. Coinbase refused to pay the $20 million ransom and instead set up a $20 million bounty fund to track down the attacker. Affected customers will receive compensation if they are deceived into transferring money due to fraud. Prime accounts were not affected and the case is being investigated in cooperation with law enforcement agencies.
