PANews reported on December 6 that according to The Block, Tom Duff Gordon, vice president of international policy at Coinbase, said that after the inauguration of US President-elect Trump, other countries may be prompted to either reform their cryptocurrency regulatory frameworks or strengthen existing systems. At the Emergence conference in Prague on Thursday, Gordon emphasized the potential chain reaction this move could have on global cryptocurrency regulation.
Marina Markezic, executive director and co-founder of the nonprofit European Crypto Initiative, said of the remarks: "It's a good thing that the EU is also starting to realize this." Caner Sevinc, senior corporate counsel at Gemini, added that although the United States and Europe have different regulatory approaches to digital assets, their regulatory initiatives "can also give other jurisdictions comfort, pushing them to move forward and support cryptocurrencies."
