PANews reported on April 29 that according to The Block, given that Tornado Cash co-founder Roman Storm is about to go to trial, crypto industry leaders jointly called on the White House to stop prosecuting open source software developers. The DeFi Education Fund sent a letter to David Sacks, the head of White House crypto affairs, on Monday, urging the Trump administration to change its approach and stop the Department of Justice's "overreach" in prosecuting software developers. The letter emphasized that developers cannot control how third parties use their code and should not be held criminally responsible for it. The joint letter pointed out that if developers continue to be prosecuted, Trump's goal of "making the United States a global crypto hub" will be difficult to achieve. The letter also mentioned that although the Department of Justice recently stated in a memorandum that it would no longer regulate the crypto industry through criminal charges, the Southern District Court of New York did not seem to follow this principle.
