PANews reported on November 8 that according to Decrypt, the French multinational Schneider Electric suffered a ransomware attack, and the hacker group "Hellcat" demanded a ransom of $125,000 in baguettes or the cryptocurrency Monero, otherwise it would disclose 40GB of sensitive data stolen from the company. It is reported that the group issued a ransom statement through an anonymous social media account and claimed to have obtained key information about the company's customers and operations.

The attack was Schneider Electric's third cyberattack in two years. The company confirmed that it was investigating the incident, saying that the attacked platform was in an isolated environment and that the company's products and services were not affected. Analysis pointed out that the hacker's request for baguettes was for "marketing" purposes to increase visibility in the ransomware market.
