PANews reported on December 19 that Craig Wright was sentenced to 12 months in prison and suspended for two years by a British judge for contempt of court. Previously, he attempted to file a legal claim of 900 billion pounds (about 1.1 trillion US dollars) for the intellectual property rights of the Bitcoin system, violating the ruling of the London court in July. The case was filed by the Crypto Open Patent Alliance (COPA), and the court has ruled that Wright is not the founder of Bitcoin, Satoshi Nakamoto, and banned him from continuing the related lawsuit. Wright attended the hearing online in Asia and plans to appeal.
