PANews reported on March 18 that according to TechCrunch, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced on Threads that the total downloads of the Llama series of AI models have exceeded 1 billion times, an increase of about 53% from 650 million times in December 2024. In addition, Meta is accelerating the development of Llama and plans to invest up to $80 billion in AI projects in 2025. Meta expects to launch a number of new Llama models in the coming months, including "inference" models similar to OpenAI o3-mini and AI with native multimodal capabilities. The first LlamaCon developer conference is scheduled for April 29, when more relevant details may be announced.
