PANews reported on April 16 that according to TikTok's official announcement, the platform has begun testing a new feature "Footnotes" in the United States. Drawing on the Community Notes mechanism of the X platform, it allows eligible users to add background information to short videos and supplement relevant context. This feature uses a bridging consensus mechanism, and annotations must be reviewed by users with different positions before they can be publicly displayed, aiming to improve the reliability of content and the depth of understanding. Footnotes will work together with the platform's existing tags, search prompts, and fact-checking systems to further enrich information sources and improve the platform's content ecology.
