Looking back at the past twelve years, our growth along the way is inseparable from the strong support and consistent trust of our users and partners. Twelve years ago, we opened a door.
It is a door to free finance, a door for innovators, explorers and builders in the crypto industry. In 2013, when the crypto industry was still in its infancy, we decided to build a secure, transparent and fair digital asset trading platform with our belief in blockchain technology and our expectation for a decentralized future. Now, twelve years later, Gate.io has become one of the world's leading crypto ecosystem platforms.
Looking back on this journey, we have witnessed the ups and downs of the industry and have also experienced countless trials and tribulations. What have we done right in these twelve years?

Twelve years ago, I quietly launched Bither in a small studio. It was the predecessor of Gate.io.
I have been interested in technology and have strong hands-on skills since I was a child. My father was very open-minded in his education of me. He often encouraged me to explore new knowledge. I often spent weekends in bookstores when I was a child. When I was a child, I almost dismantled all the electrical appliances in the house. Instead of stopping me, my father encouraged me to explore boldly. When I graduated from junior high school, I had my first computer in my life. At that time, I began to learn all kinds of computer knowledge and programming by myself. At that time, it was a good thing to buy all kinds of computer books and newspapers at the book stalls. During college, I had mastered several computer languages and started my innovation journey. I wrote several websites and software by myself. Fortunately, these websites and software have achieved good traffic and users.
When I first read the Bitcoin white paper, I was deeply shocked and immediately became interested in this new blockchain world. My first Bitcoin transaction was completed through a forum, but unfortunately I was scammed. It was this "unfortunate experience" that made me realize how important it is to provide a fair and transparent trading platform for users.
With my passion for blockchain, I founded BitTor during my postdoctoral period. My original intention was simple - to bring a fair, secure and trustworthy blockchain world to the public. Technology is not a problem for me. In the early days of the launch, I was the only one supporting the entire platform, and I shouldered all the work. From platform development to operations, marketing, and even customer service, I was responsible for it myself. Now when I think back to that time, it seems like a busy and happy time. At that time, I was in the community almost every day, constantly absorbing innovative ideas and user needs in the industry. My first reaction at the time was to actively and quickly follow up on industry innovations and hot spots. I think this is my initial understanding of "blockchain speed", and I have kept this good habit for 12 years. I still remember that in 2013, we were the first platform to launch Dogecoin, which took on huge traffic. 90% of the global transaction volume and half of the circulating tokens were on our platform. At that time, many platforms stayed away from these "novel" currencies, but I insisted on innovation and new products. Looking back now, I am very glad that I made the decision at the moment.
The sense of innovation has always been a constant throughout Gate.io's twelve-year development. Gate.io has always been the first to try out the latest products and trends. From the earliest one-stop wallet Wallet.io, live broadcast, plaza, chat room, to the later quantitative robots, innovation zone, etc., Gate.io has always been at the forefront of the industry. As early as 2014, I applied for a patent for a fingerprint hardware wallet and put it into production. Now Gate.io has thousands of such innovative products and technologies. For me, innovation is not a concept that is flaunted, but a behavioral habit that I have developed since childhood, as simple and natural as breathing. This industry is never short of innovation and opportunities, but it is also accompanied by risks that cannot be ignored. Recently, there have been frequent security incidents in the industry. In 2020, we proposed the Merkle tree method for proof of reserves and made it open source, advocating that industry platforms use this method to publish proof of reserves to ensure user safety. It was not until the FTX crash at the end of 2022 that it was taken seriously by the industry and quickly widely used until today.
