PANews reported on December 4 that the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) released Consultation Paper 381: Update to INFO 225 Digital Asset Guidance (CP 381), proposing an updated draft to provide clearer legal guidance for digital assets. The new version includes 13 practical cases, covering the definition of digital asset financial products, licensing issues for packaged tokens and stablecoins, and transitional arrangements.

ASIC stressed that it will continue to use guidance, licensing management and law enforcement to protect consumer rights. The public can submit feedback before February 28, 2025, and the final version of the guidance document is expected to be released in mid-2025.
