PANews reported on October 23 that according to Cointelegraph, the Scroll airdrop caused Ethereum blob fees to briefly surge to $4.52, the third sharp increase since the Dencun upgrade. Although higher blob fees increase the gas fees returned by the network, they also increase L2 transaction costs. Previously, Ethereum developers proposed EIP-7742, which plans to optimize network scalability by dynamically setting blob gas targets, and is expected to be implemented in the Pectra fork to cope with the growing demand for blobs.
