Menefee received funding from Fairshake's affiliated Super PAC, Protect Progress, during his campaign. Green has been a strong critic of cryptocurrencies, warning that digital assets could threaten the global role of the dollar and national security, and voted against the GENIUS stablecoin bill and the CLARITY bill, earning an F rating in the Stand with Crypto rating. Menefee received an A rating. A Fairshake spokesperson stated that anti-crypto hostility has electoral consequences, with Green becoming the first incumbent Democratic congressman to lose this cycle.
