PANews reported on May 27 that OpenSea has announced the launch of the Ethereum open standard ERC-8257 (Agent Tool Registry), positioning it as an "AI agent tool application store." This allows developers to register tools on-chain, declare access rules and pricing, and supports AI agents to autonomously discover, purchase access permissions and invoke tools without human intervention.
OpenSea states that this standard, along with protocols such as ERC-8004 (agent identity), MCP (tool discovery), and x402 (payment protocol), forms the on-chain operational infrastructure for AI agents. Currently, ERC-8257 is still in the draft stage, and OpenSea invites developers to participate in its refinement.
