Base blockchain launches MCP gateway, supporting on-chain operations via AI interfaces such as Claude and ChatGPT.

PANews reported on May 27th that, according to The Block, Base, the Ethereum Layer 2 network incubated by Coinbase, has released the MCP gateway, enabling secure connections between AI interfaces such as Claude, ChatGPT, and Cursor and the Base wallet infrastructure. Users can now perform token exchanges, transfers, and interactions with Base ecosystem applications via natural language commands. Base MCP is based on the open protocol MCP, the first standardized protocol from Anthropic. Upon launch, it will connect to applications such as Morpho, Bankr, Moonwell, Avantis, Aerodrome, Virtuals, and Uniswap, covering lending, exchanges, perpetual contracts, and the latest token and proxy releases on Base. The protocol is completely non-custodial; the MCP server has no access to user private keys. Transactions are constructed locally by the proxy and then reviewed and signed by the user, using the OAuth 2.1 authentication standard.
