PANews reported on April 3rd that, according to The Block, JONATHAN, a meme token on the Solana blockchain commemorating the 193-year-old tortoise Jonathan, experienced a surge on April 1st due to an April Fool's joke. On Wednesday, JONATHAN briefly touched a high of approximately $0.00038, a nearly 1400% increase within an hour, before settling back to around $0.00005351. An X account impersonating Jonathan, a veterinarian, posted a message claiming the tortoise had died, which was then shared by sources such as Wikipedia and the BBC, triggering a market reaction. It was later confirmed that Jonathan is still alive and that the account was an imposter and an April Fool's joke. The token was created eight months ago, and an X account had previously been regularly posting AI-generated tortoise memes.
