US prosecutors recover $600,000 in cryptocurrency scam funds targeting Ledger users.

PANews reported on April 2nd that, according to Decrypt , the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Connecticut has recovered and seized over $ 600,000 in cryptocurrency in connection with a scam targeting Ledger hardware wallet users. In September 2025 , victims received a forged letter claiming to be from " Ledger Security & Compliance , " instructing them to perform a "mandatory security check." Following the instructions, their hardware wallets were remotely controlled, resulting in the loss of approximately $ 234,000 in crypto assets. The FBI and state police traced the funds, ultimately seizing approximately $ 600,000 in USDT and filing a civil forfeiture lawsuit on charges of wire fraud and money laundering. The report notes that this case follows a recent pattern of attacks using emails, counterfeit branding, and QR codes to lure hardware wallet users to phishing websites.
