PANews reported on April 2nd that Simon Gerovich, CEO of the Japanese listed company Metaplanet, disclosed on the X platform that in the first quarter of 2026, Metaplanet purchased 5,075 Bitcoins for approximately 63.645 billion yen (approximately 12.54 million yen per Bitcoin). As of March 31st, the company held a total of 40,177 Bitcoins, with a total purchase cost of approximately 623.37 billion yen (approximately 15.516 million yen per Bitcoin). The year-to-date return on Bitcoin in 2026 is 2.8%.
Metaplanet purchased 5,075 bitcoins in the first quarter, bringing its total holdings to over 40,000 bitcoins.
