PANews reported on April 2nd that Vibhu, Chief Product Officer of the Solana Foundation, posted on the X platform regarding the Drift attack, stating that it was a highly complex attack still under investigation and not a programmatic or smart contract vulnerability. Similar to most recent crypto hacks, this attack is essentially an operational security/social engineering issue, rather than a contract risk. He stated that while the incident occurred on a Solana-based entity, any on-chain protocol protected by multi-signature could be vulnerable to the same attack; once the full investigation is complete, there will likely be many lessons to be learned and shared, but this is an isolated incident and does not indicate a problem with Solana DeFi or any other Solana product. Vibhu expressed sympathy for those affected and believes the Solana DeFi community will rebuild quickly.
